Welcome to Hope: FROM ME TO YOU
Hope: FROM ME TO YOU is a live organ donor awareness group. We are seeking to educate people on the need for living organ donors.
Every year approximately 114,000 men, women and children in the United States await an organ transplant. Of those, 82% are waiting for a kidney and 13% are waiting for a liver. In Wisconsin alone the waiting period for an organ transplant averages 5-7 years, where most patients die before that time. Through living donors more than 7,000 transplants were made possible in 2018. The donations received by this program will help to educate people of the growing need for live donors, the process it takes to become a live donor, help those interested in becoming donors to get in touch with the right facilities, and eventually be able to help offset costs that a live donation may incur. |
I am currently in the process of donating my kidney to Michael Scott, a disabled veteran. While taking the steps necessary for living donation, I have been able to learn firsthand how much live organ donors are needed to help save lives."
